2.5 Other Participant Or Site Devices/Equipment
Use this section to define the devices or hardware provided to participants in the trial. Please indicate the number of Smartphones, Tablets, or Smartwatches needed per participant.
Device type
From the dropdown options, please select the device type that best represents your trial, the options are:
- Smartphone
- Tablet
- Smartwatch
Device name
Enter the device name, this field will automatically be filled in from the device type field above. We recommend adding a brief description of the device as multiple devices can be added and this will allow you to easily compare results at a later date.
Is the device supplied locally or centrally?
Select locally if the device is supplied at the site or very close by. If you select Centrally you will need to enter the supply country. You can do this by clicking in the box and scrolling to find the desired country, alternatively you can start typing and select the required country.
Device weight
This weight is for a single device.
Depending on the device type entered, an approximate device weight will have automatically been added for you. If you proceed with the approximate device weight your confidence score rating on the results page will be lower.
Quantity unit (per trial, total per participant, total spend)
Specify here if the selected device quantity is the total number of devices per trial, the number of devices per participant or the total Spend on each device type needed in the trial.
Note 1: If you select per participant, you will manually need to enter the percentage of over supply for the product.
Over supply, also referred to as overage, is the term for a deliberate buffer of a product to cover variability in the demand for that product during a trial, which usually results in unused product.
If you select to use an approximate value here then this will lower the confidence score rating on the results page.
Note 2: We recommend only using 'Total Spend' data if you don't have 'Per Trial' or 'Per Participant' data available to enter.
Using 'Total Spend' to calculate emissions does not give as accurate a result as defining the quantity using 'Per Trial' or 'Per Participant'.
Number of hours usage of device per participant
In this section please add the average number of hours a trial participant would use the device for during the length of the trial.
Reuse
Here you can enter information on whether the device is single use for this trial only, the participants own or if it is being reused from another trial.
Info: When you have entered all of the information per device you need to click on the 'Add New Record' button. Once the device has been added you will be able to see it in the table at the bottom of the page. From here you can either edit, duplicate or delete this device.
Alternatively you can scroll to the top of the page and repeat the process to add in another device.
