2.2.1 General Section
In this section you will input general information about the trial.
Please note any information that is entered into the calculator is stored locally on your browser, we do not retain any data you provide. The information you submit is processed only for the duration of your request to generate the result and is not stored once the calculation is complete.
Name of Trial
Please enter the name of your trial here. As you are able to create multiple trials we would recommend adding a brief description of the trial to allow you to easily compare results at a later date.
This field is not sent to the server, it is only used in the browser so there is no identifying data on the server that could be used to determine who is using the tool.

Time period of trial (specify start & end date)
Enter the Start and End date of the trial.
The calculator uses the Year-Month-Date format (YYYY-MM-DD) enter the numbers starting with the most general (the year) and ending with the most specific (the day). For example, for the date March 3, 2026, you would enter: 2026 / 03 / 03
Trial start & end dates should be fixed in the way that is most relevant to your trial and the aims of your assessment. Milestones commonly used are:
- FPI: First participant in
- FPFV: First participant first visit
- LPFV: Last participant first visit
- LPLV: Last participant last visit
- DBL: Database lock
- CSR: Clinical study report
Currency
The calculator currently supports US Dollars (USD), Euro (EUR) and Sterling (GBP). You can need to select one of these options from the dropdown menu.
